Abstract
Surgical treatment of carcinoma of the hypophrynx and cervical esophagus has been hindered by the difficulty in completely extripating the lesion with a wide margin of safety, including usually a laryngectomy and neck dissection, and following this with a reliable one stage reconstruction of the pharyngo-esophagus.

Recent investigator have described various single stage procedures using skin as the primary medium to effect reconstruction of this region. Seidenberg and Hurwitt in 1958 reported this efforts to revascularize free segments of jejunum as a means of reconstructing the hypopharynx and cervical esophagus. The advantages and disadvantages inherent in each of these technics are now known.

This paper reports the experiences of the authors with free jejunal transfer for reconstruction of the hypopharynx and cervical esophagus in one case of hypopharyngeal carcinoma. We think that this technique is possible to make large pharyngoesophageal defect replaced with more similar organ, with rapid completion time, and with lower morbidity.
